7 Solid Reasons Why It Doesn’t Really Matter What Other People Think Of You

All too often we allow other people to get into our heads. When this happens, we sell ourselves short or miss opportunities that could otherwise turn out amazingly. We should never allow someone to dictate to us how we should feel. If you have ever minimized yourself or held yourself back because of someone else’s opinion, this article is for you. We’re going to tell you 7 truly important reasons why it doesn’t matter what other people think of you.

Here are 7 Reasons Why it Doesn’t Matter What Other People Think of You.

1. No one knows you better than you know yourself.

We’re going to jump right in here and tell you the most basic and clear-cut reason first. Think about it- no one knows who you are, what you’ve been through, or why you enjoy the things you enjoy more than you do. Other people will always judge you- let them. It doesn’t matter what they think about you. Remember, “Lions don’t lose sleep over the opinions of sheep.”

2. You will never please everybody.

That is a fact. With over 7 billion people on this planet, pleasing everyone is an impossibility. After all, you’re not cheese…or coffee. You’re a human being, with genuine feelings and emotions, and you need to please yourself first. Everyone else can wait – you are what matters.

3. The more you love yourself, the more haters you’ll notice in your life.

Oh boy, we have all experienced some haters in our life at some point. These types of people are jealous of your happiness and success. Call them manipulators, narcissists, frenemies, whatever you want- they have way too many opinions about others and not enough about themselves. Improve your relationship with yourself, work on yourself, and don’t worry about what other people think of you or your self-love.

4. What’s good for the goose is not always good for the gander.

People always want to share their opinions about what they think in regards to how you’re living your life. What they don’t realize is that we’re not all alike. What works for someone else may not work for you. We are unique beings, living extremely unique experiences, on a wildly unique planet. You know yourself and what will work for you. Trust your instincts.

5. Worrying about what other people think of you will create self-sabotage.

The fastest way to lose traction on a project, or stop creativity in its tracks is by worrying about the opinions of others. If you are constantly focused on others, and not what you are working towards, you will create a distraction filled with stress and self-sabotage. It’s not worth it. Worry about yourself and your own goals if you want to reach them.

6. You have one life to live.

As far as we know, we have this one life in this one body. Why on earth would you waste it being concerned about what other people think of you? Be yourself, live your best life, show kindness wherever you can, and honestly forget what other people might think. Your happiness is in your hands, not theirs.

7. It’s all talk.

If we’re being brutally honest here, people don’t actually care as much as you think they do. Sure, you might get a few glances from people if you wear that crazy skirt, or sing your favorite song loudly in the grocery store, but in reality, people don’t care. Their lives are filled with the same concerns as yours, and we’re all too busy trying to solve our own problems anyway.

Who knows, maybe by being your carefree self you could make someone smile. Wouldn’t that be a wonderful way to truly show love both to yourself, but to others as well?
