It’s time to find out what your sign can expect from this mega-important celestial event.
This winter’s solar eclipse, a Christmas Eclipse, is on December 26. It’s happening at four degrees and seven minutes of Capricorn and will be exactly at 12:13 a.m., so if you have a planet there or at three, four, or five degrees of a cardinal sign (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) this might be a wake-up call for you. The eclipse will be joining Jupiter, the planet of luck and abundance, which is also making a harmonious aspect with Uranus, the planet of the unexpected. More so than ever, this eclipse may bring in some opportunity or new outlook we just didn’t see before.
Why is this called a Christmas eclipse if it’s not on Christmas? Because eclipse energy reverberates, and the effects are felt at least a week before and after. In this latest dose of eclipse enlightenment, we will be continuing the stories from this year’s July 2 and July 16 eclipses on the Cancer/Capricorn axis. Let’s look at how each of you are going to continue the story that was started during this past summer.
The universe is again asking you to look at your beliefs and patterns around work and home and find a balance between the two. This past summer, the eclipses asked you to let go of things around your career and how you’re perceived by your peers and colleagues, but now, the solar eclipse is supercharging that area of your chart, saying it’s time to start something new — perhaps a new job or new position.
You are revisiting the summer eclipses, which asked you to look at your beliefs and how you communicate, as well as travel. Do you have vacation plans for winter? This would be a great time to go somewhere new and unexpected. See what travel bargains are out there and then just go for it! But while travel is indicated, it doesn’t have to be a physical place. It can also be a book or course that expands your mind. Tauruses typically love working with their hands — when’s the last time you took an art or cooking class?
Continue to look at how you spend and invest money. For you, the eclipse is happening in the part of your chart around other people’s money, as well as sex. You could be making some new decisions about how you spend, save, and invest. It’s even possible that you could come into some money. This also could be a time when you have realizations around your sex life and proclivities. Some time alone in bed self-loving isn’t the worst way you could spend this eclipse.
Cancer, this eclipse is all about relationships since it will be happening in your opposite sign, Capricorn. While solar eclipses are times of renewal, sometimes endings are necessary for the new thing to come in. This could be a time when a strong relationship (and not necessarily a romantic one) ends or goes through a profound shift. It could be a friend or business partner, or even a teacher or mentor. It may be that you’ve just outgrown them. This probably won’t come as a surprise — it will be something you’ll likely have been mulling over since July.
Leo, once again you’re looking at your day-to-day life and seeing if there’s anything that needs changing. This could be something around your daily routine, or it could even be your day job. This is also a time when health issues could come up. It may be that you were putting off taking care of the nitty-gritty like a yearly checkup at the dentist, since Capricorn rules teeth. It’s also a great time to try a new exercise or wellness routine.
Virgo, this should be a relaxing eclipse for you. This is not for your list-making and analyzing. Last summer, you might have let of go some pastimes and hobbies that weren’t working for you anymore; perhaps even some love interests you realized weren’t worth pursuing. Now, this eclipse is letting you start a new cycle around how you have fun, be it through hobbies or romantic interests. This is also a great time to start a new creative project, which you finally have the energy for.
Hello, Libra. Last summer you were asked to let go of some pretty deeply ingrained imbalances in your home life and family; perhaps your physical home or room needed some TLC, or a family relationship needed some reworking. This solar eclipse is bringing a blast of new energy to this area of your life. You could use your Libran sensibilities to create a beautiful new home, you could move, or a parent or family member could become closer.
Scorpio, last summer I asked you to release some old, negative thought patterns. I hope you’ve spent the last six months growing and healing. This eclipse is about finding (or refinding) your voice. You are expressing yourself in a new, perhaps more honest (but not vindictive) way. Maybe you’ve been given a new platform of expression and have started a new blog or social media account. You’re possibly ready to speak up for what you want at work. Or if you’ve got some of that watery creativity, you could be writing poetry, songs, or plays.
Sag, last summer you had to make some compromises around your money situation, and this eclipse is another time when money is going to be a focus for you. It’s a good time to reassess your attitudes around money and how you value yourself. The solar eclipse in business-oriented Capricorn is definitely asking you to get serious about your finances — not only what and how you earn but where and how you spend.
Just like on July 16, this eclipse is happening in your sign, so you may be in for a big transformation. If you have Capricorn sun at three, four, or five degrees, the eclipse is right on there. This is great because you’re being given an opportunity to, in some ways, completely reinvent yourself, especially if you were born in the first week of Capricorn. This could be a little overpowering, so do what you need to do to feel safe and loved. This transformational energy isn’t new to you, so just climb that mountain as only the Capricorn goat can.
Dear Aquarius, once again I am going to ask you to take a social-media break and go inward, listen, and let feelings come up. The eclipse could bring up some stuff you’ve buried or didn’t even know was there. I know you’re used to compartmentalizing, but eclipses can sometimes force us to look at the hard stuff. I will also always encourage you to do what you need for your self-care and processing. If big things come up, therapy or some other healing modality like reiki could be good. (I personally like journaling.)
Look back at the summer and the toxic group you left. Now you get to swim to the people who will not only be fun and cool but also sensitive and supportive to your Pisces needs. This eclipse may get to you to finally go to that meeting of like-minded creatives or astrologers you’ve been meaning to go to. Your new people are out there waiting to welcome you with open arms.
Remember, this is the first of two eclipses this winter. The next one will be January 10 in Cancer and will also be informing how this eclipse plays out. Eclipses are not isolated events; they are a story and a throughline. If “nothing” happens for you this eclipse season, consider it a blessing in disguise. When eclipses do connect with your chart, it can be a metamorphosis as eclipses can be pretty big energy, and we don’t need that every year.
