A recent study was performed to find out what some people find “beautiful.”
18 female graphic designers who were familiar with photoshop were asked to participate in this study. Coming from 18 different countries across the globe, these women had the same original photo to start with, and then transformed the image into something considered “beautiful” by their cultural standards. The results were interesting.
Fractl gave each of the designers these instructions:
“Photoshop her form. The idea is to Photoshop and retouch this woman to make her more attractive to the citizens of your country. We are looking to explore how perceptions of beauty change across the world.”
Some of these images stayed basically the same, and some are almost completely unrecognizable.
While I think everyone is beautiful just as they are, this study shows that people have a massively different perception of beauty.
