It’s that time of year again when Mercury, the planet of communication, goes retrograde, seemingly causing havoc and confusion with tech, communication, and travel. However, the only true havoc that’s caused during a Mercury Retrograde is when we fail to use this period for what it’s for: review, repair, revision, and rest. From July 26 – August 19, 2018, Mercury takes its 3-week backward spin in the bold and creative sign of Leo. Under Mercury Retrograde in Leo, our job will be to learn how we can better speak from the heart and how to keep our egos from thwarting honest, open, and effective communication with others. In terms of creative projects and ideas, we should also expect Mercury Retrograde in Leo to help us out with the revision process.
Here is the Mercury in Retrograde horoscope for each zodiac sign:
Aries Horoscope (March 21 – April 19)
If you’ve been dealing with a creative block (or writer’s block), this retrograde can help you with overcoming it. Inspiration and insights could come at the strangest times now, so stay ready. Though overall, when it comes to your creative gifts, it might be worth considering how you can monetize them. Of course, wait until you’ve got the idea fully worked out before sharing it with others on a wider scale. Your romantic life may hold some nuggets of wisdom, as an ex-lover could step back into the picture. You could receive the closure you need or learn a valuable lesson about love that you may have missed the first time around. Open up.
Taurus Horoscope (April 20 – May 20)
Your home and family life come to the forefront during this Mercury Retrograde as you might find yourself in the mood to reconnect with those that you love. If there’s been a rift between you and someone in your family, the two of you might be able to find the words needed to make amends and move on. In terms of your living space, this is a great time to let go of old stuff that you’ve been holding on to, so you can make space for the changes and opportunities headed your way. If you’ve been looking to move, take your time when it comes to signing on to a new lease or mortgage. Read the fine print.
Gemini Horoscope (May 21 – June 20)
Hold on to your hat, Gemini, because it might feel like you’re in The Twilight Zone over the next couple of weeks. As such, you’ll want to back up your files, double check important dates, and be extra careful about what you send out into the virtual world as an email, tweet, or text. Sent in haste, it could cause more trouble for you than it’s worth. On a separate note, this could be a good time to sharpen your skills to increase your marketability or to go back and finish a project that you may have dropped in the past. Above all, try to take it slow and focus more on an experience, not getting to the finish line.
Cancer Horoscope (June 21 – July 22)
If you’ve been working a job where you’ve been feeling undervalued and underpaid, it’s time to take a moment and address what you’re feeling. Perhaps it’s time to ask for a raise or begin your campaign to find something better. If money has been tight, you might also consider taking on a side hustle too. Either way, it’s time to get on top of your money — how you earn it, manage it, and spend it. It’s also time to work on shifting your perspective in terms of what you deserve. When you honor your self-worth, it encourages others to do the same. Give yourself credit where it’s due.
Leo Horoscope (July 23 – Aug. 22)
You ever have one of those moments when you feel like you just can’t seem to say anything right? Well, you might find yourself having several of those moments over the next few weeks. However, you can avoid the embarrassment by not only taking some time to think before you speak, but by speaking with authenticity rather than your ego. This might mean admitting to yourself or others that you don’t always have the right answers. And that’s OK, especially when you’re willing to learn what you don’t know. At the same time, you’re called to review the ways you limit yourself with the way you think and speak. Affirm the positive; affirm yourself.
Virgo Horoscope (Aug. 23 – Sept. 22)
You love staying busy, Virgo, but this Mercury Retrograde will show you all the ways in which you need to let go of control and take a time out. Instead of putting too much of your mental energy into obsessing over things that were said in the past and things you can’t control, try focusing on the things that you’d like to see happen; the dreams that you have. If it’s been a while since you’ve connected to your spiritual side, this a good time to reconnect. You need faith if you’re going to be able to move forward with confidence. A spiritual practice could help you to increase your faith.
Libra Horoscope (Sept. 23 – Oct. 22)
Reconnecting with old friends and acquaintances is the goal for you over the next few weeks, as it will not only do your heart good to connect with familiar faces, but it could bring you a few hidden opportunities, too. Speaking of friends, you may want to make sure you and yours don’t have an unnecessary falling out. Though if a friendship has been one-sided, you may need to step back and reassess why this person is still considered a friend. You don’t always have to be the nice one. Meanwhile, if you’ve been thinking about sharing a project with the public, it may be best to wait for now while you work out the kinks and details first.
Scorpio Horoscope (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21)
With your career zone being lit up during this Mercury Retrograde, you might receive an offer or some form of recognition from a former employer or mentor. But communication is fuzzy right now, so give yourself some time to investigate to make sure that the offer is to your liking. If there’s a company that you’ve been wanting to work with and an opportunity might not have panned out in the past, you could get a second chance. Though with all eyes on you now, make sure to cross your i’s and dot your t’s when it comes to communicating anything to the public or people that you’re seeking to impress. Hold off on launching anything new.
Sagittarius Horoscope (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21)
You’re a truth teller and a truth seeker, which gives you some pretty strong opinions about the world. However, you might want to think twice about sharing some of those opinions now because 1) they may change and 2) they may not be as well received as you’d like. Before you hit that “post” button on Facebook, Twitter, etc., it may be a good idea to think it through first. Instead, you might consider channeling some of that energy into brushing up on something you’ve learned before, revisiting a place that you love, or challenging your self-limiting beliefs. If writing is your thing, it’s a good time to revise or edit what you’ve been working on.
Capricorn Horoscope (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19)
Your finances come up for review under this retrograde, which could provide you with the impetus you need to renegotiate the terms of a loan or credit card, so you can save more money. You might even consider sitting down with a financial advisor or accountant and going over your books to make sure you and your cash are on the right track. In matters of the heart, words left unspoken between you and someone you’re close to could rob you and the relationship of the intimacy needed. Don’t worry too much about finding the right words, just say what’s in your heart. On the flipside, you could receive clarity on how to deal with an unhealthy relationship.
Aquarius Horoscope (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18)
Effective communication is the goal when it comes to you and your partner (professional or romantic) for the next few weeks, which may require lots of patience and a series of conversations to make sure you understand each other. A contract or business opportunity could be offered to you, but take your time and get all the details on the nature of the agreement before you sign or say yes to anything. If you need to hire someone to be a second pair of eyes or negotiate for you, do so, as it could save you trouble down the road. For some of you an ex may pop back up. Is this person an ex for good reason?
Pisces Horoscope (Feb. 19 – March 20)
It’s time to focus on simplifying your life. What kind of habits and routines do you need to change to make sure your days and your schedule run as smoothly as possible? Perhaps having a set bedtime or regular office hours may help you become more efficient with how you spend your time and energy, so you don’t feel like you’re wasting yours or stressing out by doing everything last minute. If it’s been a while since you’ve seen your doctor, it might be time to drop in and say hello. At the office, keep a close eye on important files, emails, and dates. Make sure you and your co-workers are on the same page, too.
